Technical Publication Manager

With unparalleled experience designing and modeling communications networks and building software to manage them, we are looking for an experienced Technical Information Manager to join the team in our Englewood, Colorado office. This position reports directly to the VP of Product Management and is responsible for developing all SPATIALinfo technical documentation, including product user guides, administration guides, reference guides, online help, technical white papers, knowledge base articles, internal wiki content, and product marketing collateral. The successful candidate is expected to be directly involved in using and documenting products as well as managing a team of technical writers to move the company's product and solution documentation to the next level.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage all phases of technical information projects, including design, development, and implementation based on established goals that are aligned with company standards
  • Acts as a senior technical writer, participating in the development of all technical information projects and establishing a "hands on" approach to documenting software products and solutions
  • Works with other functional departments to ensure timely development of data and materials for inclusion and support of technical manuals and work schedules for meeting product release deadlines
  • Coordinates and oversees the work of outside technical publication contractors and translation partners when required
  • Recommends formats that meet technical and customer requirements, gathers internal and customer feedback on the needs of, current quality and accuracy of, and requirements for the full scope of technical publications
  • Develops, defines and implements broad technical publications policies and processes both within the team and across the organization


Requirements:

  • BA/BS and/or equivalent experience
  • 8-10 years of related industry management experience in technical documentation or a related field
  • Solid understanding of technical communications, savvy organizational skills, exceptional writing proficiencies, strong interpersonal skills, and an outstanding technical aptitude
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, experience with Adobe RoboHelp, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or content management systems is a plus
  • Technical understanding of CAD, GIS and/or telecommunications technology is a plus
